GCI Hope Choir

This choir was started by Jonathan Kubuya Shandwe and his sisters at the age of 10 and 9 respectively.  Their mom and Dad were advisors of a group called Hope Children’s Choir. This group started in the Democratic Republic of Congo and expanded to Uganda. Now in Canada it is working with Grace Communion International Ottawa/Gatineau and continues its ministry.

Our Mission

GCI Hope Choir’s mission is to sing and through song both proclaim the gospel and aid orphans in Uganda. We do this through selling DVD’s and other venues. Funds obtained from this are then used to help the orphans.

Hebrews :13:15 “Through him then let us continually offer a sacrifice of praise to God, that is the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.” As Christian Andersen said  “where the words fail, music speaks”. We aim to spread the word of God through gospel music.

Our Impact

We’e been able to help orphans in the following areas:

(i) Goma => 30 orphans

(ii) Beni => 25 orphans

(iii) Nyabyondo => 30 orphans

(i) Kampala => 30 orphans

Our Goal

Over the next two years the goal of the group is to help a further 100 orphans
 in the Congo and 50 in Uganda

To help raise funds for orphans in Africa through:
     (i) Songs
     (ii) Concerts
     (iii) Donations
     (iv) DVD Sales

Their Need

(i) Clothing and shoes
     (ii) School fees
     (iii) Food
     (iv) Beddings
     (v) Health/medical care
     (vi) Computers
     (vii) Transportation: car, motorcycle, bicycle
     (viii) Paying the workers

Plan for Sustainability

We have a number of projects we hope to use to develop the local communities to be self-sufficient, these include opening up a music studio, tailor and internet cafe as local revenue sources for the orphanages.
