Refugees

If you are a refugee seeking aid before you apply to our GCI refugee mission program, please review the following criteria, otherwise we will not be able to reply to your request.

The Private Sponsorship of Refugee program (PSR) is a partnership program administered by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and the people of Canada to extend Canada’s capacity to resettle refugees.

It is against the law of Canada for refugees to send money to a sponsor in Canada to be accepted under PSR program. If a refugee can self-finance him/herself, he/she should contact the Canadian embassy in your current residential country. GCI- Refugee mission program does not and will not accept money from refugees.

If you are a member of Grace Communion International (GCI) Church and living outside Canada, you should contact your local GCI Pastor for a recommendation to apply under our refugee mission program.

If you are not a member of GCI; here are the procedures to follow before you send us an email:

  1. You MUST have a sponsor, co-sponsor, or a relative living in Canada.
  2. The Co-sponsor or your relative in Canada must demonstrate their ability to support you or your family fiscally and socially for the sponsorship period, which is usually 12 months.
  3. The Co-sponsor or your relative in Canada MUST commit to providing you financial support and settlement assistance. This includes paying rent, food, transportation, clothing, and extra medical needs which are not covered by the government of Canada for the period of 12 months.
  4. You or your family must be a refugee living outside your home country and registered by UNHCR or your local government as an asylum seeker.

Please contact your sponsor, co-sponsor, or your relative before applying and give them our email below to contact our administration team at: refugee@gcicanada.ca or send them our link or website: gciottawa.com/rsm

We check our email once a week and we will get back to your co-sponsor ASAP.

Thank you,

Grace Communion International Refugee Sponsorship Mission
